Hi,

we've talked about cross-channel l10n for a while now, and it's getting
real.

I could use some of your investigative souls to see if there's something
wrong in the artificial en-US repository that I'm creating.
https://hg.mozilla.org/users/axel_mozilla.com/en-US is where I host it
right now.

The l10n config files for browser, mobile/android, mail, suite, and
calendar are in _configs.

I'll update the repo on a somewhat daily basis, but I might also redo it
rather completely. Might even be likely.

The intent is to get to something stable early next week.

Thanks for poking

Axel

I've set up the repository in parallel with mozilla-central and will run
compare-locales on both.

The first run is giving the expected results (not identical because
there's already a push to m-c not reflected in the repo).

The only thing I wonder is why the config for Fennec is
mobile-android.toml and not mobile.toml. Is that because they're
automatically generated based on the folder they're in
(mobile/android/locales)?

It's really great to see this moving forward.

I already got feedback from gps to change some commit meta data, so I'll
surely need to regenerate it. But it's small, so i'll note when folks
should kick their existing clone. Also, hg will warn about the repos
being unrelated.

Exactly.

Hi,

with x-channel using one repository for all locales, will it be possible
to get a feed of commits for one locale so one can see and check what
gets checked in for one's own locale?

Thanks
Sebastian

If I understood x-channel correctly, per locale repositories should
remain. The change is having a single repository containing all strings
from both beta and nightly channel.

Yes. Localization will keep using l10n-central with cross-channel, one
repository per locale, so you can keep using the associated RSS feed
https://hg.mozilla.org/l10n-central/de/rss-log
