New Language Packs

I've created some initial localization packs for Secwepemctsín
(shs-CA) for Firefox 2 and 3. [1].
Now that I have started work on Firefox I would like to start
submitting work that I've done. I've filed a Localization
Registration Bug [2] for a new team a month ago. How much should we
have done before a language pack is released with Mozilla and how can
I tell how much I've done?
I don't think we'll be translating the documentation anytime soon we
are planning to get most of the interface done on several applications
before we start on any of the documentation.
One question. How can people easily select my language pack in
Windows or Mac? In Linux I run LANG=shs_CA and it picks up the
locale, but in Windows and OS X I have to type about:config in the
address bar and set useragent.locale to shs-CA.

You can tell how much you've done by using Axel's compare-locales
package [4]

There's at least one addon that does the job [3].

[3] was really helpful and [4] is great, but I had to add my locale
because the list doesn't have my language. I assume I'll have to
contact the developers of the add-on to add my language to the list?

to get your language pack posted it needs to be reviewed first by the
community. has this happened? that means people who speak the language
download your language pack and basically review it.
once that happens then someone from the mozilla add-ons team can do a
technical review, likely Wil Clouser, and then he will post it to the
add-ons page (assuming it's fine or he'll provide feedback for fixes).

Congrats again on your language pack. As a fellow Canadian and Firefox
contributor I'm so excited to finally see a native Canadian language
in the mix!
