Hello all you localizers out there,

I'm translating various software in Romanian, Mozilla software
included and right now I'm working on an application to help me with
that.

I've presented the tool at a Mozilla meeting this year before Fosdem.

I'm getting close to the point of having a candidate release, but I
would really appreciate some feedback.

I've set up a discussion group on google to avoid spamming this one
and this message is posted there also. If you are interested in
providing feedback and give your opinion on certain matters, please
join that group, the message flow should be pretty low.

There is a working Narro installation here:
https://l10n.mozilla.org/narro/narro_project_list.php . Please create
an account, it's fast and simple, select your language, and look
around to see how easy it is to translate.

You can use Narro like this:

- as a translation tool to let others translate through the web
- as a coordination tool; download files, translate them with your
favourite editor, upload them again

Starting a new (language) translation is as easy as pushing a button.
Various formats are supported, you will be able to translate even
Mozilla Addons site or Bugzilla in Naro.

So if you're localizing or want to start translating Mozilla products
in a new language, please join the google group to give some feedback.

You can join this group by just replying to this message and say that
you want that.

Thank you.

Please specify the languages you are translating in also.

I added in the installations all the languages that Firefox is
translated in officially, but there may be others too.

I've just added the magic export button, so feel free to experiment.
You need to be logged in. It's on the project list. I've added
Thunderbird, Flock, Seamonkey and even Narro itself.

I'm constantly updating the database and some users may be lost, so if
you registered and login isn't working anymore just repeat the
procedure; remember it's a test.

I recommend you choose a project, translate something, validate the
suggestion, export and see with a diff program how it went. Try a
string with access keys.

The ideea in the future would be to keep importing from CVS
automatically and export manually from Narro, copy the files over a
local cvs checkout and commit them with your credentials. This because
the current mozilla access system would not allow me to commit to CVS
in your name directly from Narro.

Happy testing!

The very first impression feedback: it is mighty slow...

Am I getting it right, it is something like https://translations.launchpad.net/
for Mozilla translations?

Same old https://l10n.mozilla.org/narro/narro_project_list.php

There is a current issue with displaying correctly the texts that have
not been validated, but that will be fixed tomorrow; it's no blocker.

And if you're translating in a language there isn't listed in
preferences please contact me to add it.

Also if there are special language requirements like right to left or
some character problems.
