Gaia: Change to space available for strings, detection possible?

Hi,
in the Display > Brightness settings of Gaia 1.1, I noticed that the
available space got reduced during the last week. The German label
"Automatische Helligkeit" now gets cropped, maybe the margin to the left
and right edge of the screen have increased. Is it possible to detect
these changes? Else labeling a string internally as approved for
translation and sufficient space in the UI breaks.

Hi,
I think this is more of a note to gaia devs.
If you're changing the screen estate of a string, that has l10n impact,
and invalidates given translations.
