I'm not sure if this is related but the app stats seem to be wonky too.
I collect the spellchecker stats each time a locale report comes out for
statistical purposes (gd along with ga) and I noticed a really odd spike
for 29/9, nearly doubling the daily users:

While that would be excellent news, I'm also naturally suspicious of
news which is too good to believe and I noticed a similar spike for Irish:

Not having heard anything on the news which might explain such a spike,
I checked some other stats and Czech (not all are showing stats publicly
but Czech is) ALSO has a spike:

I'm thinking there something weird going on there, anyone else have any
thoughts on that?
