Hey everyone,

As Firefox support for Windows 8 Metro approaches, it's important to
find localizers that are currently using Windows 8 to test how
improvements to support Firefox on that platform have turned out. If you
have and use Windows 8 Metro and are willing to help with Firefox l10n
testing on that platform, please respond to this thread.

In addition, I'll be adding a method to allow us more visibility into
accessibility for testing platforms. Stay tuned :-)

Thanks everyone!
Jeff

Hi Jeff, hi all
I have been using Windows 8 since release preview and now I have the Pro
version (64 bit). I have also Firefox desktop installed (in Fulah please)
and using it as my default. I will be happy to help.
Cheers all
Ibrahima

Hi,
some more details about Metro.

*Trunk (l10n-central) testing*
Based on the dashboard [1] I'd say we have 6-8 locales almost complete (it,
ru, sv-SE, fr, zh-TW, es-ES, pt-PT, sk) not sure if they're testing out
Metro or they have devices to do it.

*l10n/i12y testing*
Based on the strings we currently have, I tried to come up with some basic
tests you need to perform in order to check most of the features (and
strings).
I tried to keep it as simple as possible, here's the list:
http://flod.org/metro/

*RTL testing*
I searched mozilla-aurora for RTL languages [1]. These are the locales I
found: ar, fa, he, ur. Of these only Arabic has an updated sign-off, none
of these work on l10n-central (trunk).

The main problem is that Metro needs RTL testing and bug reports, so the
sooner you can start testing the better.

*General testing*
Currently Metro is enabled only on trunk (Firefox 26), and the population
of testers is quite limited. In this case it would be great if localizers
could contribute to the testing in terms on bug reporting (not only l10n
related) and features feedback. If you're interested I can try to involve
some people from the Metro's team and give you more detailed instructions.

Hi Jeff.
If I understand correctly, you need localizers Metro UI and those who will follow the bugs? I have Windows 8.1 RTM and I can make friends with Ukrainian translation (including the desktop version to translate). If something I do not understand correctly - correct me.
Thank you.

We need Firefox localization testing coverage for the Windows Metro UI.
If you have Windows 8.1 RTM and can test Firefox in Ukranian on it, that
would be immensely helpful. Please take a look at flod's specific
comments on how to help out.

Yes, I'm looking for errors, but alas - Ukrainian localization for Metro UI does not exist. So I think we can do it..
