SeaMonkey 1.1 Alpha & L10n

The SeaMonkey project is currently in the process of preparing an alpha
release for our upcoming Gecko 1.8.1-based SeaMonkey 1.1 version.
Compared to 1.0.x, a good set of locale strings happened, so there
should be some amount of work if you want to do a localization.
What didn't happen though, and I just discovered that, was a
localeVersion update. The good thing though is that someone coming from
1.0.x will still see "(needs update)" for his maybe installed language
pack, as we didn't even port the change from "1.8b5" to "1.8" from the
1.8.0 to the 1.8 branch, which happened between 1.0 Alpha and Beta.
This means, that 1.0 Alpha language packs may be accepted by 1.1 Alpha
and you may be able to switch to them, but of course, we badly break
when you really try to use such a language or content pack. I'm sorry
for that, but this is an Alpha and it's intended for testers, not real
end-users, so we accepted to leave it this way, we'll correct this for
Beta (which will be feature/string freeze once again).
Our candidate builds for this release are in
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/candidates-1.1a/
and as we had no problems with QA so far, we expect to release those
unchanged and you can start L10n based on those builds.
As always, please test the builds and feel free to already prepare
binaries and langpacks but don't publicly release them before our
official release is out.

To be more precise, adding up SM 1.1 to ChatZilla 0.9.75.1, there are
near 800 strings. About 250 or so come from ChatZilla, the rest
belonging to SM 1.1, including help files (in MT a help file counts as
a single string), sroaming and reporter. I haven't found any change
in Venkman nor DOM Inspector strings.
Some of the changes can be imported from Toolkit 2.0 (files under
pipnss and pippki have saved me some work). Still, people should get
hands on early, because there are a fair amount of work to do.
