Hi All.

In my endeavor to bring on board more translator's for various other non-represented languages, here is a good news.

I could convince some of my colleagues to contribute to these languages. Here is a list of languages for which new bugs have been created as well as languages for which the bugs are reopened.

Newly opened Bugs-

Sanskrit- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1053153

Dogri- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1053117

Nepali- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1053056

Konkani- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1053038

Reopened-

Bodo- http://https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=814332

Kashmiri -https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=705406

Manipuri- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398725

Sindhi- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=791450

If anyone would like to contribute to these languages, they are welcome.

Regards,
Chandrakant Dhutadmal.

Hi Chandrakant,

I think you have the process slightly back to front. There's little
point in opening these bugs until the translation status of these
languages has progressed much further. Once they get to a healthy state,
you (or the Locamotion admins) will file bugs to get them addes to a
release.

Hi Michael.
OK.

If these people can submit translations on Locamotion servers, then it is perfectly alright. I thought you need to re-open the bug first inorder for them to submit translations. Thanks for clarification.

Regards,
Chandrakant Dhutadmal.

Hi Chandrakant,

If they haven't got translation rights yet, then the route is:

1) create an account on locamotion
2) email the locale team and/or the Firefox Pootle Tech Team
<tech...@translate.org.za>
3) tell them your username and the language you want to work on

Probably best for now to close those bugs.

Hi Chandrakant,

Thank you for doing this. Please do get in touch with those localization
teams that are already working (ie. Nepali) to avoid causing any
conflict in future.

Also note that some language like Konkani use multiple scripts
(Devanagari, Kannada and Malayalam). It might be good to mention what
variant you are planning to work on in the team pages.

Please don't forget to update these pages. It will help l10n-drivers to
reach out to the team in future.

Hi Arky.

Its long time we talked to each other :).

You have raised a very valid question by asking which scripts are we planning to work on. Here is the answer.

1. Konkani- Devnagari and Roman scripts.
2. Kashmiri- Devnagari and Perso Arabic scripts.
3. Manipuri- Bangla and Meetei-Mayek Scripts.
4. Santali- Devnagari and Ol-Chiki scripts.
5. Sindhi- Devnagari and Perso-Arabic Scripts.

I Hope this answers your question. The only technical challenge i see later when compiling Mozilla projects like Firefox, is how to represent these "language-script" combination using standard codes like ISO 639-2. But thats to be thought by Localizers at Mozilla.

By the way, that reminds me to inform you that we have planned FUEL-2014 event on 14th and 15th Nov. 2014 at Pune. See if you can be a part of this event. You are invited. :)

Regards,
Chandrakant Dhutadmal.
