Hi,
first of all happy 2013 to everyone out there ;-)
Here some of my doubts/questions about Gaia. I thought it would be
better to start a new thread instead of using the old one about moving
locales.
*Desktop builds*
I've started used desktop builds a couple days ago, and while my locale
is completely translated I can always find strings that remain in
English (e.g. the list of timezones or "Email address" in the first time
screen). Am I supposed to ignore these or report bugs?
*Complete testing*
It's clear that desktop builds are great to test most of the interface,
but some parts can't obviously work (SIM, phone calls, etc.). Is there
already a plan to fix or work around this?
*l10n problems*
Time format: I think I set my time format right, but it keeps showing
7:20 PM instead of 19:20. Are other people having the same problem?
Option label vs Title: in settings I have one option called
"Archiviazione multimediale", it's long but it fits in the interface.
When I select it the same string is used as a title for the the page,
with a gigantic font, and it's not displayed completely ("Archiviazione
multimedi..."). This doesn't sound right at all.
Are we planning for having at least a bit of flexibility in the interface?
Example 1:
http://www.yetanothertechblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/keyboard.png
Original string: " French, German, Norwegian Bokmal, Slovak, Turkish"
Translated string: "Francese, tedesco, norvegese (bokmål), slovacco, turco"
To be pretty honest I don't think that even the English string fit in
that tiny space (but I didn't check).
Example 2:
http://www.yetanothertechblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/usb.png
Original string: "USB mass storage enabled"
First thought: I think that string is wrong, it should be "Enable USB
mass storage". And look, even English can fit in :-)
Second thought: if I want to translate this into something meaningful,
I'll probably need more than one line of text.
