I'd like to update you on our current release plans and the consequences
this will have on the localization teams.
First of all, we're in string freeze since last Monday (September 03) but
had to make two late-l10n checkins (bug 388418 and bug 393608) after
that.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388418
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393608
We're currently aiming for a first release candidate on the coming
weekend (September 15-16). This release candidate will come from the
MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH.
This release candidate will be released fully localized for Sunbird and
Lightning, to enable you to test these builds and their localization
quality more fully before the final release. The pre-requisite for this
is that your team must update your locales until the coming weekend
(green Sunbird 1.8 tinderbox).
The current tinderbox status of your locale can be seen on ssitter's
Sunbird page: http://ssitter.googlepages.com/tinderbox-l10n-branch
Therefore I'd like to ask you to complete your localization until the
coming weekend. For some teams that will mean, only adding a few strings,
others have some more work on their plate.
Please direct any questions that you might have to me.
Simon

Over one day has gone past and no questions have come up. I'm simply
(and positively) amazed :-)
But I see you are happily working on getting your locales green. Right
now of the 24 locales, which will hopefully ship with 0.7 ten are
already green or in the process of becoming green within the next 1-2
hours (da, de, fr, ga-IE, ka, lt, nb-NO, pl, pt-PT, sk).
So thanks for your efforts and keep up the good work. And if you have
any questions or need some help, feel free to ask.

we had a developer confcall today and one of the outcomes was that
we're going to push our release date (for RC1) back for two days to
Wednesday, September 19th. We hope to release the 0.7 final about
one month later.
What that means for you is, that you have to complete your localization
of all strings (= green Sunbird 1.8 tinderbox) until Monday evening
(2007-09-17 23:59 MET - Middle-European Time).
This currently affects the following locales:
ca, cs, hu, it, mk, mn, pa-IN, pt-BR, pt-PT, sl, sv-SE
The following locales already have a green Sunbird 1.8 tinderbox:
da, de, es-ES, eu, fr, ga-IE, ka, lt, nb-NO, nl, pl, ru, sk
Having your locale ready for the 0.7 RC1 will give you the opportunity
to get localized builds of Lightning and Sunbird 0.7 early, so that
your team of testers and your community has enough time to give those
a look and raise all issues early enough so that they can be fixed
in time for the final 0.7 release in October.
Please post any questions that you might have here.
Thanks
I'm quite sure it locale will be ready for that time. My PC hardware is
starting to break (my HD, too), but I have a laptop and I hope I'll
manage to save my translation and end it soon. I even have 2 exams at
university, so I think I'll finish translation just in time, don't warry
if you see italian locale is not finished until the last few hours.
bye,
Iacopo

Great.

Don't forget to backup your data :-)

Good luck on that!

Okay short update on the current situation:
The following locales still have orange tinderboxen and need to be
fixed within the next few days to be included in 0.7 RC1:
- ca (Catalan) - moderate amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- hu (Hungarian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- it (Italian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- mk (Macedonian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- mn (Mongolian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- pa-IN (Punjabi) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- pt-BR (Brazil) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- sl (Slovenian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
- sv-SE (Swedish) - low amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
The following locales already have a green Sunbird 1.8 tinderbox:
cs, da, de, es-ES, eu, fr, ga-IE, ka, lt, nb-NO, nl, pl, pt-PT,
ru, sk, zh-CN
It would be great if the locale owners of the affected languages with an
orange tinderbox could post a short comment here, whether they are
confident to get their locales in shape or whether they will skip the RC1
and aim for the 0.7 final release. Currently I only know the status of
the Italian localization (see Iacopo's statement here in the thread).
Thank you
AFAIK the mk translation is updated up to the rc1 release, but is not yet
commited to CVS ... I'm waiting for the maintainer to send me a patch, but
he is not online this week, so I can commit ot CVS.

I've just made a commit with the end of the translation. It locale

Iacopo, I only see a trunk checkin from you. Please remember that 0.7
(and at least the following release 0.9) will be released from
MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH. So please commit your updates on the 1.8 branch as
well.
As we try to keep both trunk and branch strings in sync, this should not
mean additional localization work for you.

Great news! Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for your feedback, Damjan. I hope you can still make it.

Your nearly there:
Entities in ./chrome/calendar/preferences/connection.dtd don't match:
(add these keys to you localization)
configAutoconfigText.label
configAutoconfigText.accesskey
Properties in ./installer/custom.properties don't match:
(add these to your localization)
REG_APP_DESC
Remove this file:
./chrome/calendar/email.properties
time for another short update on the current situation regarding the
state of localizationfor the upcoming 0.7 release.
In the last two days the following locales have turned green:
ca, sv-SE, zh-CN
The following locales still have orange tinderboxen and need to be
fixed within the next *TWO DAYS* to be included in 0.7 RC1:
- hu (Hungarian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
no feedback yet from localization owner
- it (Italian) - low amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
positive feedback from localization owner
- mk (Macedonian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
positive feedback from localization owner
- mn (Mongolian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
no feedback yet from localization owner
- pa-IN (Punjabi) - low amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
no feedback yet from localization owner, but a checkin happened
today fixing most of the remaining issues
- pt-BR (Brazil) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
no feedback yet from localization owner
- sl (Slovenian) - high amount of work expected to fix tinderbox
no feedback yet from localization owner
The following locales already have a green Sunbird 1.8 tinderbox:
ca, cs, da, de, es-ES, eu, fr, ga-IE, ka, lt, nb-NO, nl, pl, pt-PT,
ru, sk, sv-SE, zh-CN
Please guys, give me a feedback on your current status (if you haven't
already done so like Iacopo (it) and Damjan (mk). It would be great if
you could post a short statement here reagarding your confidence to
get your locales in shape or whether you'll skip the RC1 and aim for
the 0.7 final release.
Thank you
Fixed. (at least I hope, I'm not so sure about having removed
email.properties)

Your Sunbird tinderboxen are now green. But you haven't removed the
email.properties file. To do this you need to follow these steps:
1. Delete the file in your local repository.
2. Tell cvs that this file should be removed from the central
repository by typing 'cvs remove email.properties'
3. Commit your changes

After another checkin only one unlocalized string remains before
the Tinderboxen will turn green:
Properties in ./installer/custom.properties don't match:
Add the entity to l10n/pa-IN/calendar/installer/custom.properties:
REG_APP_DESC
