Mozilla Translator - How to use

I know that I have to translatethe strings that appear on Mozilla
Translator, I know you can see the "Untranslated strings" but those
strings that show up shouldn't be translated.
How can I know how much is left or where to continue?
I have created this page, in which I have written what I have
understood and there are some questions I have in red:

Another question I have is why the Glossary.zip that I have received
from the owner of the component is divided into "browser, dom,
etc..." (when I select "Manage products" in MT) instead of "Firefox,
Windows, Unix, etc..." as it says in this page:

I will also send these questions to the people I collaborate with.

I'm not the best person to teach you, but I know that if some strings
appears in the untranslated strings list and they shouldn't be
translated (i.e. they have to be in english) you have to mark them as
"keep original". Be sure that you've selected that coloumn in your work
window, then select all the strings that have to be equal to the
original and click on the button keep original (there's a button for
this function if you use MT >= 5.13, otherwise you have to select each
string one by one, and go tothe menu to select the function).
In this way MT will add there strings to your glossary, and you won't
find them again between the real untranslated strings.

Mozilla Translator got quite a few fixes since back in the day, and the
mlp_howto_firefox page is apparently not maintained.
http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:MozillaTranslator is more current. It has a
link to the up-to-date userguide, too. I know that many of the changes
actually happened to accommodate for localizing the source instead of
the old jar language packs.
Ricardo would know a whole lot more, of course.

The userguide is in Open Office 2.0 format *.odt. If it isn't possible
for you to open this file format, I uploaded a pdf version of this
userguide to www.sorbzilla.de/userguideMT521.pdf
This userguide is that of the acutal (AFAIK) version MT 521.

With MT 5.1+ (current version is MT 5.21) there is a Fuzzy flag very
useful to mark and save strings needing review.

It looks like you are using an old MT version. Axel has already given
you the most up to date link:

Keep in mind that most of the content in that page can also be
outdated. Nowadays you should really use the PDF link in that page to
access the MT 5.21 user guide, which I keep synched with respect to
the program itself.

The Glossary.zip you have got is organized in a "Source L10n" way,
which is what you need to use for official Firefox localizations, so
it is OK. The Firefox, Windows, Unix, etc. is the way it was organized
back in Firefox 0.8 or so.

I encourage you to read the user guide and reference guide and give me
feedback for any improvements in the docs. MT development is currently
in a halt because I'm working in a replacement as part of my final
year (or should I say century?) project, but I hope to do some
improvements to MT in parallel; I will reward myself for every step
forward in the final year project allowing myself to add features to
MT. :-)
Please, feel free to ask for advice whenever you need it.

Yes, MT 5.21 is the latest version so far. A PDF version has been
linked from the MT page at wiki for some time now:

(BTW, OpenOffice.org is wonderful converting to PDFs, it creates PDF
bookmarks/ToC from title styles).

Yes, you are right. I do it the same way. :-). Even doc files I load
into Open Office if I must create pdf files.
