British Dictionary - Forked by me

Hello!

I was told about this ML by a friend from Apache OpenOffice.

I am writing here to say that I have forked the British Dictionary since
I sent e-mails to the owner(s) years ago and no one ever replied.

I even filled Lucas' form in his site two or three times but I never
received any reply.

After chatting in Mozilla's IRC channels, it was suggested that I would
fork it and so I did.

We now have again someone updating the dictionary which was very
outdated... not even the word "antivirus" was in it.

I hope to do better and better as time goes by.

Hi Marco,

sorry for not responding.

I think David has moved on from the dictionary; he didn't reply to the
last mail I sent either. I've only ever packaged up the dictionary for
AMO (it is compatible with current versions of Fx, TB and SM, as noted
on AMO).

I was always wary of updating the dictionary, since the licence was
previously incompatible. However, I believe that now LGPL2 dictionaries
can be bundled with the Mozilla products, so it is probably time to:
a) update the dictionary (which you've started on - hooray!)
b) work to get it included as part of Fx/TB/SM rather than as a separate
download.

If you want, I'd be glad to work with you on this.

PS very interesting about "antivirus" - I would have assumed it would be
hyphenated, but it appears not.
PPS worryingly, I can find no record in bugzilla of Lucas' fork (which
is, as far as I can tell, technically not needed) replacing mine on
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/ or of any
emails, NG discussion etc.

I don't think that LGPL 2 license is OK to ship with Firefox.

There's an un-versioned "LGPL" in the list of acceptable licences.
