Just a quick note. There was a minor update to fxhome and we picked it
up with our Verbatim tooly.
So, what we have right now is a slightly updated (11 new strings)
template that lives in
http://localize.mozilla.org/templates/fxhome/LC_MESSAGES/
I already applied it on a test locale (I used polish since I claim to
speak it)
In order to get those new strings into your locale, you just need to go
to your equivalent of
http://localize.mozilla.org/pl/fxhome/admin_files.html and click on
"update the files from templates".
If you have any problem with that, it doesn't work, or strange things
start to happen once you try, let me know. I'll be happy to assist you :)
cheers!

P.S. A note for developers: the translation of "Sync Key" can be awfully
long (for example "chiave di sincronizzazione" in Italian, but fr and
es-AR seem to have a similar translation) and they should keep that in
mind (I know they'll hate us for this ;-) ).

I think you're good to go once you have it there. We may create a bug
tomorrow to collect translations and convert them to .strings files, but
for now, that's all :)

Yea, all slavic langauges will have sth similar to "klucz synchronizacji"

I guess you, like me, will also have problems with "Wrong Sync Key"
("Clave de sincronización errónea"). I've considered abbreviating
"sincronización" to "sincr." but I'm not too sure that it will be
understood. It would be nice to know when strings have width constraints.
Ricardo
We actually use "klucz Sync" in Polish Firefox 4 (since we're treating
"Firefox Sync" as a sort of a brand name), and, as a bonus, it's short
enough not to break anything in Fx Home. :)

Ricardo,
We also have some issues with the French site, but this is not the worst
thing: the app is screwed up.
All accented letters disappeared from the UI, our last modifications
have not been taken, some button labels are cut, etc...
These are the first reports from our users...
I will file a bug tomorrow evening in bmo (no time currently), we have
already a pending bug in our own Bugzilla installation.
This app will (is) really looking like crap for ou users.
A bad move in the Apple world imo.
Cédric
FYI, there's no problem with Turkish accented characters.
But I didn't use Verbatim and handed out translations in their
original file format instead.

Hi Flod,
Thank you for raising the question.
It may be redundant at this point, but I reopened the bug for each
locale that covers the Application's l10n. When you are finished with
the work, even if your locale is already finished, please just close
that bug. I'll use that as a way to track open tasks across all locales.
For testing, I will talk to the dev team about the iPhone emulator. I
believe it should still be working.
Hope that helps and sorry if there was any confusion. I didn't get a
chance to tell Gandalf how we managed tasks for this project last time
since he was on vacation for the duration of the project. He made the
announcement yesterday before I could reopen all the bugs to track our
progress. We'll coordinate better next time.
Best,
Seth

I have passed this feedback to the developer team. They filed bug
596381 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596381) to
highlight l10n changes for this release. I used that bug number as a
blocker against the main project tracker.
On a separate email to the dev-team, CCing Cedric, I've reported this
issue. If it is a bug we can fix, we will and Cedric can report the
results back to us.
FWIW, all Polish characters (ąćęłńóśźż) display correctly in Firefox
Home on my iPod, and we used Verbatim for localizing the app.
Cédric, did you test your localization through VNC before release?
Hi Marcoos,
Yes I did, and I didn't notice this.
I couldn't be able to dig into this before this weekend with the user
whom reported this.

I tried to update Firefox Home translation for Czech but looks like
something is wrong. After update I still see "300 words need attention"
(0% translated).
How can I fix it? Firefox Home 1.0.2 was translated to czech. And yes, I
clicked on "update the files from templates".
Regards,

Not sure what is going on. I think I'll need to review this with
Gandalf or with Dwayne from the Pootle. And, just to be certain, I also
"updated from templates" and saw no changes. :/
-sethb
Was Czech translated on Pootle? I suspect it wasn't as there isn't any
'Last Activity' info.
Its not a problem, we simply need to recover the translations using the
Translate Toolkit:
prop2po -t en-US-strings cs-strings cs-po
Should do it. Then checking that the names of the files match, updating
to the latest strings and we're off.
Seth if you need help with this just give me a shout and I can help,
otherwise it should be that hard. The hardest part is making sure that
you use the same en-US .strings files that the CS .strings where
translated from.
