Hi,
I was asked today if there were localized 1.9 Xulrunner builds by a
developer for a standalone application.
Currently, for the French locale, we used
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/ to package it
manually.
As of today, we got 1742 downloads for 1.8.0.4 and 744 downloads for
1.8.1.3.
.

I think this could be useful for spreading Xulrunner and Mozilla
technologies but not on a per locale basis. Maybe a build with all the
locales available for a release would be more efficient.

Well, what are your thoughts about making available such automatic
multiple l10n builds?

Or will the l10n teams have to package this manually, and if so, at
least, could the official xulrunner releases match the Firefox releases
: I mean, 1.8.1.15 for the next Firefox 2.x series and 1.9.0.0 for
Firefox 3.0 release (I know it's too late for these releases ;-) )

Thanks

I'd need more input on what we're actually shipping, or what folks
expect us to ship. Shipping applications in a single language is cool,
but I see xulrunner more as a platform, and I'd expect that to be
shipped in multiple languages. The latter is tricky from am automated
build point of view, as a failed language would be a total failure for
the build.

Anyway, Benjamin, do you have an opinion on whether we should ship
multiple localizations in one distribution, or a distribution for each?

As always, xulrunner has a testing and QA problem, in this scope, in
particular overridden files like netError make me wonder how to
transport QA we're doing on toolkit applications over to xulrunner. Any
ideas anyone?

I do not think we're planning on doing either option. We'll ship the single
en-US XR build, and application authors can plug in other locales with their
application, perhaps by unbundling and repackaging the Firefox langpacks.

Out of interest, what's the overlap of xulrunner l10n? Is it (as you
seem to imply) a strict subset of Fx?

cheers,

Mark..
