Hi everyone,
In the coming days there will be a new Test Pilot experiment to
localize. It's quite different from the previous ones, being a
stand-alone web project, not a Firefox add-on: https://send.dev.mozaws.net/

It's a website where you can upload a file and get a link to share it.
Once the file has been downloaded, it gets removed from the server.
Basically, a one-time, secure file sharing website that will work with
any browser.

And here's a question for you: in the past I've always enabled new
experiments in Pontoon for all Test Pilot locales (i.e. locales
translating the Test Pilot website). Let me know if that's something
that doesn't work for your locale, and I'll take note to avoid it in the
future.

Strings still need to be reviewed and the localization infrastructure
set up, I'll follow up here as soon as the project is ready for
localization with more information (number of strings, deadline,
testing, etc.)

Hi,
I've just enabled the project on Pontoon. There are 68 strings in total.

Since I haven't received any feedback to this request, I've added all
locales that were enabled on Test Pilot's website. If you don't want
your locale added to this project, please let me know and I'll remove
it, it's an opt-in project.

There's no fixed schedule to update production, but we can request a
push as more locales become available. Dev server should update
automatically, but we'll test as soon as we have some localization in,
as the Firefox Screenshots experience taught us.

Talking about Test Pilot, several strings for new experiments are going
to land in the next hours. They will also be pushed to production very
quickly, since the experiments have been delayed twice already. I'm
going to ask for an extra push to production next week to update
localizations, unfortunately there's no way to block content updates
from going live on Jul 27.

I had a look at experiments.ftl yesterday and saw that it contained
strings on experiments that have come to an end. Will the old strings be
removed? I don't want to translate the old stuff...

Good point, I didn't see them removed. I'll file an issue to investigate.

So the 59 strings are not really new?

No, those are new. The problem is for those, like Rhoslyn, who start
localizing the website now: there are a lot of strings related to past
experiments (e.g. Activity Stream, Page shot), and we shouldn't bother
new locales with those.

Yes, I mean the 59 strings of Test Pilot Website project, file
experiments.ftl. Firefox Send has 68.

A quick update: new experiments are going out on August 1, not on Jul
27. That's good, because it lives more time for localization.

Regarding old strings, discussion is happening here
https://github.com/mozilla/testpilot/issues/2657
