I can't answer officialy, but if you check Show suggestions from all
languages you can see that other languages changed that.

If you actually go to http://example.com/, you will see that this is a
domain explicitly reserved for documentation and example uses in RFC
2606. I don't see any provisions for localized versions of those, so I'd
suggest to stick to them. http://beispiel.de/ goes to a domain hosting
company, for example, so you don't want to use that in a German
localization.
