Of course we at Translate.org.za do, so that's 10 languages. But are
other people using them for the translation of Firefox and friends?

For the French locale, we don't use use .po files at all, nor Mozilla
Translator. A simple UTF8 compliant editor.

Hi,
On occasion the Finnish locale has used moz2po to use available spell
checking+consistency+error detection tools for po-files. Regular editing
is done in gedit.

The Irish team has been using moz2po since we started translating circa 2004.

The Basque (eu) team has been using the translate toolkit since Firefox 1.0.

translation in Firefox 1.5 and Thunderbird 1.5. It uses a shell script
and low-level utilities in old version of the toolkit (~0.8/0.9) that
has various patches.
For Firefox 3, I'll try to move to the latest version.

Serbian l10n uses moz2po. It speeds things up at least twice.

php/mysql web application called Narro.
It imports/exports directly in dtd and properties format, so there's
no need for moz2po. It allows anyone to translate and I'm avoiding the
conversion problems. We're currently using it for OpenOffice too and
it deals with the sdf file directly.

Some teams didn't respond probably because the heading was not of
interest to them. I've emailed those privately to try get their data.
Currently about 10 people (this number excludes the 9 languages that
Translate.org.za has not released) use moz2po. I had about 4 Mozilla
Translator replies and about 3 text editor users. I expect the
non-moz2po data to go up because of the title of my email. I was
honestly surprised at the number of text editor users and expect that
might go up a little.
I'm not sure if anyone else is interested in the data but I've been
collating it in a spreadsheet. Perhaps once I get some more data I
should put it on the Mozilla wiki, I'll see if I have time, or someone
can volunteer to push it to the wiki ;)
Again thanks, this was enlightening and motivating for the developers of
the tools.

From asking at FOSDEM, I remember we had almost half of the team using
text editors, and the other half that used tools, was about evenly split
between MT and moz2po.
FWIW, the German team uses partly MT and partly text editors.

For Bahasa Indonesia, I use MT, html and the rest are translated
using text editor. Dody (the other Bahasa translator) was using text
editor only (I think it's SciTE).

In Brazil,
I think the FX and TB people use MT.
The old SeaMonkey pt-BR translation coordinator used moz2po and I don't
use it.
I use emacs to edit the files directly.
So, for SM it'll be used while SM 1.1.x lasts.
