As I mentioned previously, we're going to make what's currently
l10n-stage-sj to be l10n.mozilla.org. It's serving the content people
expect from other open source projects under that domain.

The transition plan is like this:

Pick a new URL
Make the community server serve both urls
Make the community server serve a redirect page on the old url
Make the community server not serve the old url and make that point to
l10n-stage-sj.

Each comes with a hand full of days or so.

First thing is to pick a new url, I'd suggest
l10n-community.mozilla.org. I'm open for other suggestions and opinions
on this, I'd have l10n-communities.m.o, too.

Head over and sell your thoughts to google for nothing in return at
https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dGVtZzlzSDlzQWRwb1hBTWZQNnNrZEE6MQ,
and I'll make an educated guess from there.

Thanks

Hi Axel,

I don't understand the need of l10n-community. Are you proposing it as the
future name of l10n.m.o? If so, I'd prefer l10n.m.o since it's shorter.

Regards

- Anas

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Because the services that are currently on l10n.mozilla.org
(https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Server/Inventory) will not stay on that
domain. l10n-stage-sj.mozilla.org will become l10n.mozilla.org instead.

How does it impact our accounts there? like:
http://l10n.mozilla.org/~pascalc/

Will the data be migrated transparently to the new server or will the
account become http://l10n-community.mozilla.org/~pascalc/ ?

I don't intend to migrate anything from the community server to the new
VM in SJ, so the user accounts would also be affected by the change of
domain.

so, apart from the dashboard/signoff app, what else will we have in
l10n.m.o? What about web dashboard?

The future of the web dashboard is unclear right now, the functionality
might migrate into the l10n_site. The basic idea is to run l10n_site
there, and just that. Which features that includes is open, there are a
few things with concrete plans, see
https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Dashboard/Apps, for example.

The overall idea is to evolve that site into a hub for localizers, much
like you find in other projects like l10n.gnome.org or l10n.kde.org or
l10n.openoffice.org. As you can see, they're all different, so will be
l10n.mozilla.org, tailored to what we need, and need often.
