Is there some community or user that is using OmegaT for translating Mozilla?

Hi.

I am the coordinator of the localization galician team of the mozilla's
products.

I would like to know if there is people that is using OmegaT for
translating Mozilla. For translate the products of Mozilla (Firefox,
Firefox OS, Thunderbird, etc). I am changing my workflow (method of work)
for do the translation. Before I used the editor of text (gedit) and now I
will try to use OmegaT.

To use OmegaT, I am developing some things for facilitating my work. These
improvements could be useful for other people. For people is already using
OmegaT or for people that want to change to OmegaT.

The utility most important is a plugin for OmegaT, this will let to the
user get the translation of a string from Transvision, from the repository
and the locale, that the user have configured. In short time I will upload
the plugin to github's account.

Also I have developed an improvements for the properties and dtd filters of
OmegaT. For the dtd filter has been accepted and integrated in the code.

For the properties filter I am still talking with Didier, one of the
leaders in OmegaT.

And for the people that uses OmegaT, also I would like to know the problems
have found and how have solved it. And things need or miss.

The next weeks, I hope to use OmegaT with an mate to translate FirefoxOS.
We will try OmegaT with git to sharing the work.

The only person brave enough to use OmegaT, as far as I know, was Vito
from the Slovenian community (I don't think he's active anymore).
He even did a video

I tried a couple of times to look into it, but it seemed overkill.

Besides text editors and web tools (Pootle, Narro, Transifex), the only
tool I know is Mozilla Translator, used at least by es-ES and it.

Overkill indeed. I use Virtaal with the po files from Locamotion which
works very well.

Hola Alex.

Yo estoy realizando la traducción de Firefox OS al gallego. En estes
momentos llevo traducido como un tercio de las cadenas. Tengo todo en
local. Aún no he subido nada al repositorio. Ya he cargado la traducción en
un móbil Keon con Firefox OS v1.3.

Para indicarte como realizar la traducción, seguro que hay personas con
muchos mas conocimientos y experiencia que yo.

Como indicaba en mi mensaje, yo estoy tratando de realizar la traducción de
los productos de Mozilla con OmegaT. Yo soy usuario de OmegaT desde hace
muchos años. Más de cinco años traduciendo con este programa muy diversos
programas de software libre. Yo he realizado la traducción de las licencias
Creative Commons al gallego con este programa. También he traducido el
software de control de aula T-COS. En su día también traducí una buena
parte de NetBeans con este programa. He realizado la unificación y
homogenización de parte de la traducción de Moodle. Traduzco una parte de
las páginas web de Mozilla con el. Siempre que puedo uso OmegaT para
traducir.

Para llevar la traducción en solitario, como es mi caso, OmegaT puede ser
una muy buena elección, o eso pienso yo. Para realizarla entre varias
personas, pues también podría ser una buena elección, pero yo no lo puedo
asegurar. En los próximos días, junto con otro compañero, vamos a tratar de
continuar la traducción de Firefox OS con OmegaT probando la traducción en
equipo a través de git (también se puede con svn). Nunca lo he echo, y veré
que conclusiones saco de dicha experiencia. Yo espero que todo vaya bien. Y
si interesa, pues contaré como lo hemos echo.

Si la traducción de Firefox OS a ese idioma nativo la va a realizar un
equipo compuesto por varias personas y sin muchos conocimientos técnicos,
ya solo a nivel de usuario, en mi humilde opinión, es que úseis un
servicio/software online, como puede ser Pootle, Narro o Transvision. Lo
lógico sería Pottle, la instancia de Pootle que ya hay con algunos
productos de Mozilla.

Yo si quieres más información sobre OmegaT, te puedo contar lo que sé y lo
que estoy haciendo. Si te puede servir de ayuda, yo estaré encantado.
Cualquier cosa non dudes en preguntarmela.
