*Tl;dr:* Mozilla L10n mailing lists are being replaced with Discourse. To

Hello localizers!
The time has finally come: Mozilla is moving away from self-hosted, public
mailing lists, replacing them with Discourse.
This change comes about because of long-standing security and maintenance
issues. The risk of keeping these mailing lists going is high and the
resources required to do so are no longer sufficient to support them.
Therefore, Mozilla has decided to move away from self-hosted, public
mailing lists, and toward Discourse for public communications. This change
was inevitable, given that Discourse is already the de facto forum for all
open Mozilla discussions. It also provides us with better tools to organize
and categorize conversations.
On *April 3rd*, all localization mailing lists (dev-l10n, dev-l10n-web,
dev-l10n-new-locales) will be archived. New conversations will have to take
place within the Localization forum category [1] in Discourse. This
category will serve the same function as the previous mailing lists:
- To broadcast important updates to ongoing localization projects at
Mozilla.
- To broadcast important updates to the global localization program at
Mozilla.
- To provide an open and inclusive space for the community to discuss
translation and localization at Mozilla.
- To provide an open and inclusive space for the community to network
around localization at Mozilla.
- To provide an open and inclusive space for onboarding new localization
communities and new localizers into the global l10n community.
Participating in discussions within Discourse comes with its own set of
guidelines [2], that include adherence to the general Mozilla Community
Participation Guidelines [3]. The l10n team (Jeff, Matjaz, Peiying,
Delphine, and Flod) are responsible for ensuring that those guidelines are
followed, including moderating discussions and reporting any violations of
the Mozilla CPG guidelines.
To stay engaged in these conversations, please create an account on
discourse.mozilla.org and set up your profile to receive notifications from
the localization category.
See you in Discourse,
