Hi everyone,

We’re happy to finally enable localization of CMS (Content Management
System) hosted content for the Donate websites. For now, it’s a couple
strings on the homepages and the FAQ page.

You will see two new projects in Pontoon:

A first one for the content on donate.mozilla.org
<https://pontoon.mozilla.org/projects/donate-mozilla-content/>

A second one for the content hosted on give.thunderbird.net
<https://pontoon.mozilla.org/projects/donate-thunderbird-content/>

Static UI content shared by the two websites remains in the “Donate website
- UI <https://pontoon.mozilla.org/projects/mozilla-donate-website/>”
project.

Also, because the CMS content is managed slightly differently, there’s no
staging server to test these translations — they are automatically
published on the production servers ~20 minutes after you’re done
translating. As usual, you can find the server information in the project
header in Pontoon.

If you had the Fundraising project completed last year in Pontoon, you have
already translated 80% of the current content and will be able to leverage
the translation memory. But note that due to the way strings are split and
the file format change, some strings may not show up in the translation
memory. This is why we’ve enabled the legacy Fundraising project in
read-only mode in Pontoon
<https://pontoon.mozilla.org/projects/fundraising/>, so you can still
manually search for your translations in this project and don’t have to
redo the work from scratch.

Thank you everyone for your continued help with the donate websites! We’re
now working on adding that new solution to other websites such as the
Foundation website <https://foundation.mozilla.org>, the Mozilla Festival
website <https://www.mozillafestival.org> and *Privacy Not Included
<https://foundation.mozilla.org/privacynotincluded/>. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Théo

Hi Théo,

Why do the number of sentences differ between Dutch and Frisian?

Hey Wim,

Looks like both locales have the same number of strings now, but I’m seeing
the FAQ page is not showing up on Pontoon for the locales that haven’t yet
started working on the project. Checking with Matjaz what’s going on,
thanks for the report!

Also note that for these projects, some locales will have more strings than
others, because we can now enable some pages only for a subset of locales.
For instance, we’ve created a page that will be linked only in an email
sent in French, German & Spanish here https://donate.mozilla.org/dec2020/ ,
so it doesn’t make sense to bother all the other teams with these strings

The issue has been fixed, we just needed to sync harder ;)
