[URGENT] Completing Firefox desktop in Vietnamese

Hi all,

Firefox in Vietnamese has recently become very popular in Vietnam. We
have seen a large increase in the number of downloads and usage for
Firefox in the country.

Because it has been a long time since the Vietnamese localization has
been completely translated, these new users are installing a partially
localized version of Firefox. In order to encourage these users to
remain with Firefox in Vietnamese, we need to give them a complete
Firefox localization.

Please take time to contribute to Firefox localization so that the open
web can grow in Vietnamese. The need is urgent; please help.

We are aware of this and I personally have been combing through the user1
translation phase for the past week. We're looking forward to organize a
l10n sprint this week to address the issue.

On the other hand, issue #1159514 about finishing the webparts is also
urgent. I wonder at this time which one is more urgent so we can better
focus our efforts?

Thank you for your efforts Trung, it's really great to see progress
after so much time :-)

As for priorities, I would say that both web parts and Firefox are
equally important. Considering, however, what a user is most likely to
encounter first, web parts are the first thing a user sees. While an
event is a great way to organize your efforts, I would encourage you all
to also make assignments between Firefox and web parts now and begin
translating before, during, and after the event. Then I would encourage
you to document those assignments in the wiki page during your event, so
that each person knows their area of responsibility for each future release.

I see that you have completed the critical web parts goal (thank you,
and congratulations!). I would encourage you to treat the following
goals with the same sense of urgency as the "critical" goal:

1. critical-mobile

2. good_to_have
<http://mozilla.locamotion.org/vi/mozilla_lang/goals/goal-2-good-to-have/real-path/>

Remember that for Firefox goals, each goal above the "developer" goal
<http://mozilla.locamotion.org/vi/firefox/goals> is needed to complete
the localization of Firefox. Once all of those are complete, it's up to
you to determine if the "developer," "configx," and "security" goals are
needed for your locale. For many locales, they are left in English (as
web developers in their regions typically speak English).

IRC is easy. It's a chat protocol.

Here's what I recommend (and these are instructions for all here):

1) Visit www.irccloud.com and create an account.
2) IRCCloud will ask for some configuration info. In Network, select
Mozilla. In channels (or rooms), type in #l10n. Create your own unique
username for your Nick (or Nickname).
3) Once you've completed this, each time you log in to IRC, it will
automatically place you into the #l10n chat room for Mozilla.

Even if you're a part-time translator (most of us are, any way :-) ),
it's important to have a presence on IRC to connect with the larger
Mozilla localization community when you encounter these types of errors.
The errors can then be resolved much more quickly than via email.

The work-around is to change your preferred display language from
Vietnamese to English. If you provide your username one of the Pootle
admins can do this for you.
