Hi all,

Would anyone be willing to make a Portuguese translation of my Firefox
OS article, particularly for Brazilian readers?

The article can be found here (it already has a French translation):
http://rawkes.com/articles/there-is-something-magical-about-firefox-os

I can do it.

Can I post it anywhere, like my personal blog or one of the small tech
blogs I write to?

Hope I can help!

That would be amazing!

Yes, please post it wherever you want and I'll link to it from my own article (like I did with the French one).

I really appreciate the help.

Rob, is there a "deadline" for the translation?

Maurício Araldi.

If you want to ride on any of the recent popularity of the article then I'd need it in the next day or 2.

If that doesn't bother anyone then there is no deadline.

It'll be done today. I have translated part of it, but right now I'm
trying to solve an urgent issue that is talking much more of my time
than I have previously expected.

As soon as it's published, I'll post the link here, and I can see what
I have to do to make it appear on the planet.

That's great news! I'm looking forward to seeing it and I'll add it to the article right away.

All right. The post is fully translated :) Here it is:
http://freebird.blog.br/2012/09/14/ha-algo-magico-sobre-o-firefox-os/

I have got lost on the translation just once. Maybe Rob or anyone with
a better understanding of that exact English expression could help me
out:

> It's because of the lack of stuff going on between Gecko and the hardware, meaning things like JavaScript can run **at full pelt**

I've translated it to "very, very fast", But I'm not sure that's the
correct meaning of the expression. Can anyone help, please?

If anyone can find out something that could be improved, I'd be happy
to fix it asap. You can just send it directly to me, or leave a
comment. But please, let me know! :)

And, err, something wrong happened yesterday or early today, and the
blog's style is broken =( We're trying to figure out what happened. I
hope to fix that soon =(

Rob, I've added some "translator notes" throughout the post, and some
text at the beginning. As you're going to link it on your blog, I'd
like to be sure you know what I've written, so you won't link to it
without previous knowledge:

The beginning:

This post is a translation by Ricardo Panaggio (link to my twitter) of
Rob Hawkes's (link to your website) post, originally posted here (link
to your blog post) and that was also translated to French (link to the
French post).

If you have any questions and you prefer to ask them in Portuguese,
leave them on the comments. If we can help, we'll answer ourselves. If
we don't know, we'll bring them to Rob and get the answer back.

This is the first translation we post on Free Bird, so we'd like to
know what you think about it. If you liked it, if hated it, if it
doesn't matter, or none of the before mentioned, tell us on the
comments! :)

I've spent too much text on this. Here's the translation.

The notes:

- On your privilege of working on Firefox OS: [Translator note: I
would also feel the same if I had the privilege to dedicate myself to
Firefox OS. I glad you can Rob :)]. No need to explain this one :)

- several currency conversions, as people here may not be familiar
with values in £. Some people have an idea of US$. Most people doesn't
know the value of any other currencies =/ For people in Portugal, I'm
sure £ will be enough. And for people in other countries that speak
Portuguese, I don't have any idea of what's the best currency to show.
Shame on me =(

Hope the translation is good enough.

I'm very happy I could help! And I hope I can help again in the future!

Best,
Ricardo Panaggio

Thanks Ricardo!

I'll be linking that on the main article as soon as someone can tell me how to say "Read this article in Portuguese" in Portuguese. Can you, or someone else reading this?

The notes are great, I think it's good to add your own comments in there.

Also, "at full pelt" can mean "very, very fast", though a better description would probably be "as fast as possible".

Hopefully we can get the "Read this article…" translation soon so I can push this out. The article hit Slashdot last night so it should result in some extra traffic for you.

Perfect!

I've added your link to the article, thank you so much.

Hopefully Marcelo can help get this on the Planet if it isn't already.

Maurício or Marcelo (or maybe someone from l10n-pt-br),

I don't know what I have to do to make the post "published" on the
planet. Could anyone help me with that, please?

Thanks in advance, and again, I hope that this can help people out there!

Best,
