Hi Braden,
Thank you for your interest in getting involved in Mozilla's localization
program! I'd like to introduce you to Reuben Morais, who leads that
community (he's CC'd here).
Reuben, Braden lives in my state in the US (Utah) and is interested in
helping with localizing Firefox products & Mozilla web projects into pt-BR.
Could you please mentor him and help him get started?
Braden, take some time to familiarize yourself with the information here:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:pt-BR This contains instructions on how
to get involved in the localization projects, as well as the contact
information for each member of the community. Please rely on them to point
to where they need the most help.
This is also a useful page to see what help is needed:
https://l10n.mozilla.org/teams/pt-BR It is the Brazilian Portuguese l10n
community's project dashboard. It displays the products they're localizing
along with their current status, any bugs that need fixing in the
localizations, as well as the web localization projects.
Finally, if you have not already, I would encourage you to download Firefox
across all of your devices. Firefox is distributed in 4 channels that are
specific to certain audiences: nightly (for development), aurora or
Developer Edition (for localization), beta (for testing), and release (for
public consumption). Please download Firefox Aurora from the following
locations and begin using it as your default browser:
- Firefox desktop, Aurora branch
<
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer/all/?q=Portuguese>
- Firefox for Android, Aurora branch
<
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#developer>
- Firefox for iOS, [I'll need your permission to add your email address
to our testing platform for this]
This will help you to be engaged in testing these localizations now while
you wait to hear further instructions from Reuben and the rest of the
community. So, to sum up, you can begin contributing by doing the following:
1. Study the info on
https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:pt-BR
2. Introduce yourself to the rest of the Brazilian community.
3. Download Firefox Aurora (AKA Developer Edition) and use it as your
default browser.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.
Thanks,
Jeff
