Hi Christian,
you should really heed of Francesco`s advice. You need perseverance and
time, and the willingness to continue started work. But I can comfort
you: The hardest work will be the translation of the first build because
all strings are new for you and have to be translated. Later on, you
need translate some new or changed strings only. But consider that you
should continue your translation work after the first Luxembourgish
build will be released. All Luxembourgian Firefox users, regardless how
many they may be, will be expect that.
I know what I write about: I am the only! translator for two languages,
Upper Sorbian and Lower Sorbian. I fully translated Firefox, Thunderbird
and all Mozilla webpages which are translatable. I've been translating
since 2001 until 2014 in private. I always hesitated to translate
officially because I thought I couldn't keep up with the required
translation cyclus but I have no regrets about being a member of Mozilla
localizers community.
Nevertheless, it is better to have some team-mates. It will be an
enormous work in the beginning but it is possible to master this work.
And, if you need help: there is a team of really good localization
drivers and other localizers like to help you as well.
Finally, Im sure you will have to find trenchant words and expressions
or "invent" some. Sorbian languages are minority languages and often I
had to find new words or expressions.
If you are still willing now to translate, then you and Luxembourgish
are welcome to the Mozilla localization community.
Regards,
Michael
