Hi, I'm Constantine from Lakota Language Consortium (http://lakhota.org).
We skyped with Jeff Beatty, L10n Program Manager, and he encouraged us to start localization process. So we are here and would be very obliged with your help.
Reading the L10n Team starters guide I learned that I should start a topic here, register at Moz Wiki and fill in the L10n template page.
I registered but haven't found the template, so maybe somebody can guide me, at least initially?
Thank you!
Constantine.

Hi Constantine,

I'm thrilled to see you join! I've gone ahead and created your team's
wiki page (https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:sio-US-lkt) and applied
the template. All you need to do is edit the info according to the
template's guidelines. Feel free to remove those guidelines (found in
italic) once you've finished.

Let us know if we can do any more to help,
Jeff

Hi Jeff, thanks for prompt reply.
I wonder, can anybody else edit the lkt L10n file?
I'll add Jan to the team now.
Also, how can the wiki page be safe from outsider's editing?

We also plan to start l10n using Pootle, is that a good direction? If so, how can I and Jan become the bosses of Pootle lkt project?
Thank you, Jeff!
Kostya.

On the account access level there are some security measures to avoid
spambots from registering accounts on the wiki, like a reCaptcha.
Lately, that's become a high priority item. However, we haven't seen any
l10n team wiki pages becoming victims of malicious edits. If you were to
notice any such activity, you can promptly report it in bugzilla
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/> and we'll deactivate that user's account.

Yes, Pootle is certainly a good direction to start with. Many of our
l10n teams begin on Pootle because of its highly collaborative nature.

Once the project is created in Pootle, all I need are the Pootle
usernames of those who would be admins and I can grant them those rights.

Hardly I can start a new FF L10n project in Pootle myself.

I have filed a bug (http://bugs.locamotion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2893) to
have the project created in Pootle with you as an admin for the project.
I do need to know a couple of additional items before I can create the
project. If you'll supply me with the info, I'll be happy to create it
tomorrow.

1) I added links to a couple of special characters to add to the virtual
Pootle keyboard. Are there others? If so, where can I find them?
2) Do you happen to know of any plural rules we should be aware of (as
described here
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Localization_and_Plurals)?
3) Could you pass me Jan's username once he's registered on Pootle
(mozilla.locamotion.org)?

Thank you!

The Lakota nouns follow Plural rule #0 (1 form).
But the numeral follows noun head:
"2 hours" will be "owaphe nunpa" (lit. "hour two".
Where can this be specified?

Thank you very much! I've commented on the Pootle bug about the plural
rule to see if there's a way to express that specification within the
area provided for plural forms or some other way.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but the appropriate language tag for
Lakota is 'lkt', not 'sio-US-lkt'.

Thanks for pointing this out, Gordon. I'm waiting to see more activity
from this team before encouraging them to change their page/locale code.
