New localization in Aymara [aym]

Hi,

My name is Juan Sanchez, and with a group of guys from Peru we would like to start (or restart) the localization of Firefox to Aymara, a native language speaked in Peru, Bolivia and Chile (in Latin America).

I noticed there was a team created as Aymara, but without information.

I also reviewed Narro some time ago and I didn't find any progress.
I acknowledge that now the translations are stored in Pootle, a tool I used before.

The team I represent will start the localization sessions in the next weekend and we have basic information about the localization process, but we will start the translation in 'offline mode' (first priority: getting the translated strings over storing them in an online tool) unless we get access to them.

I wait for additional guidance.

I'm very happy to hear that you and a team will be working on the Aymara
localization of Firefox!

The Aymara project was recently moved to Pootle in order to facilitate
collaboration on the project by as many people as would be interested in
localization into Aymara, in addition to centralizing language resources
to ensure consistency across the whole product. You mention that you'll
be localizing offline unless you get access to strings to translate.
This brings me to a few questions:

1) Does your team plan to perform all localization for Aymara offline?
2) If not, do you need access to Pootle to begin translation?
3) If so, have you and your team determined a distribution of work and
language resources to ensure that there is no duplication of work and
that the Aymara translations are consistent?

Hi Jeff,

We will start translating offline this weekend, but if we get access to
the project in Pootle we will be very grateful (I created an account
with jesanchez (at] mozilla.pe).

About our process, we expected to start with a generic glossary, and
start translating the main menus and later the detailed preferences.

About the people, the team is located in one city, and we will have
translation meetings, so there will be not overlaps. In the meetings
there will be people who speaks Aymara or knows the language, and
students of Computing who will note the translated strings.

And one more thing: The base of the work will be the Spanish (Spain)
version of Firefox because that's the most spoken language in Peru. If
the project in Pootle could be configured to have the strings in Spanish
and we replace them with the Aymara equivalent will be helpful (unless
there is a better option).
