Hi all.All of you know Mozilla released Firefox for iOS few days ago.It means after Firefox For Android, we should translate Firefox for iOS to Persian language. But it have some problems. First question is :Will Firefox for iOS get it's language settings from iOS language settings, or it will get from Firefox language settings in Firefox Options?Answer of this question is very important for Firefox iOS Persian language localization. Because if Firefox iOS get it's language settings from iOS like WhatsApp, Persian localization of Firefox iOS will be unusable! Because iOS UI haven't Persian language it's settings yet; and as result end users never will be use Persian language of Firefox for iOS!But if Firefox for iOS will get it's language settings from Firefox options, like Telegram, end users can choose Persian language in Firefox options for it's UI.If Firefox for iOS now getting it's language settings from iOS, we should File a bug in BugZilla to fix it as above.Thanks.

Hi all,

Thank you for bringing this up, Amir. There's actually a third option.

As of iOS 7, the iOS language setting were split in two: one for the iOS
localizations and the other for Preferred Languages (similar to accept-language
header setting in HTTP
<http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-lang-priorities.en.php>).
With the Preferred Languages setting, a user selects from a very large list
of languages to add to their phone and then orders the languages they have
selected in order of preference. When the user opens an app or visits a
website, this setting tells iOS to deliver the app & website in the first
language listed in the Preferred Languages setting. If the app or website
are not localized into that language, then it looks for the second language
in the Preferred Language setting, etc., etc. After looking at the
languages available in this setting, I see Persian listed among them.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff.As your answer, only end users which are using iOS 7 and later can use two language settings in iOS, which one of them is for iOS and another one is Proffered language that is usable for Apps and Websites. As result, users which are using iOS 6 and earlier, will not able to change language of Firefox to Persian, because iOS language settings is not separated. It should be Fix.Another question is "Is Persian language in iOS Preferred languages?" If it isn't Firefox for iOS should have language settings in it's UI.

Ok. I saw Jeff's answer to my question "Is Persian language in iOS Preferred languages?", he said it's available. But is it in all version of iOS?

Very few (if any) iOS users are still on iOS 6 (the latest released was iOS
9) and Apple does a (for lack of a better word) "good" job of obligating
users to upgrade to the latest iOS release.
