Would this mean we could be able to update our Flames devices any time soon?

Many thanks!
Best regards,
Gabriela

I still have my Geeksphone Peak phone.
Any chance of installing something like this on the Peak? Curious.

Do you know where we could get more information on that? (current
requirements, porting, localization ...)

Would a Flame be considered too old for that? Or a Flatfish? (I'm still
using that one with Android).

the goal of the project at the moment is to help KaiOS update their
system and phones to a modern Gecko. While KaiOS is a fork of Firefox OS
it's very different; it's designed to work on smart feature phones with
physical keyboards. Old Firefox OS phones are certainly incompatible
with it.

However if you're looking for a system to modernize your old devices I
recommend trying PostmarketOS [1] which is a fantastic, community-driven
effort.

Is that it the real blocker? I mean, somebody will probably be
willing/able to "fake" the keyboard ...

But anyway, say I buy a KaiOS device now, would I be able to build from
source (except driver blobs), install it and start experimenting? I
guess Mozilla will release the code later, but right now, and given this
partnership, is it possible?

My flame used to boot alright with it, but it's not going to make calls
anytime soon ...

I also recommend it for people trying to inject new life in old devices.
It's a great project.

I can't speak for KaiOS since I don't know all the details of their
stack, but even pure Gecko wouldn't be able to run anymore on a Flame
because the version of Android it was based on is too old.

Mozilla code will be released under the MPL as usual. I don't know
what's the situation with the KaiOS sources, you'd have to ask them.
