Hi all,

The mozillians.org team recently met to discuss upcoming work for this quarter [1], and here is what we are planning to do in the next few months.

High-level goal: Improve the usability of mozillians.org with better search results and richer profiles.

What we will accomplish in Q3:
- Improve profiles with refreshed design and more fields
- Provide better registration and error handling
- Address technical debt (specifically, Playdoh upgrade)
- Make search better
- Inch toward continuous delivery
- Replace vouched with invited

Some of these projects are underway and others are getting started soon. I'm happy to discuss these projects if you have any questions or ideas. If you would like to give input on a project or get involved, please stop by the #commtools IRC channel or start a new email thread on this list.

Can you detail on this one?

That sounds to tie in to a lot of "who do we trust" and "what's a
mozillian" topics

Thanks

Thanks for the update. I was about to ask the same thing. What do you mean
here? Are we going to start referring to vouched mozillians as Invited
Mozillians?

This goal still needs analysis and specification, so there's not an implementation plan yet. Generally speaking, the "vouching" function on mozillians.org means very different things to different Mozillians and we'd like to have a consistent definition. I think how people join mozillians.org should be tied into our contribution pathways that David Boswell and community builders have been working on. I'll be talking with those groups so we can propose a way to improve or replace the current vouching system. I'll share updates on this newsgroup once we have some specifications in mind.

Just as background, the vouch system was designed so we could quickly get Mozilla contributors into the directory, which contains trusted information like contact information. Now that we have 3600+ people in the directory, the bulk of people creating a profile for the first time are new contributors instead of existing contributors.
