Hi all,
The Get Involved page will have a new design on October 14, and as a
test, we'll encourage users completing that form to then create a
Mozillians.org profile.
Our plan is to add conditional content [0] on the public
mozillians.org
homepage with a button to 'Create a new profile' for users coming from
the Get Involved page. The Get Involved team is providing the design and
frontend code.
Here's how our team can support with backend code
- Hook up the frontend code from Craig so that new content is displayed
when a public user visits the special URL [1]
- Add a flag on new profiles that is set if the user created their
profile when coming from the special URL
Notably, since the Get Involved team is providing the design and
frontend code, this only requires a small amount of resources from our
team. Tasos estimates these as quick tasks, about an hour of development
total for both tasks.
A month after the page goes live, we'll use Baloo data to measure how
many people who have created a profile through this flow have started
contributing. We can then consider new possibilities for how we better
encourage new contributors to learn more about Mozilla and make their
first contributions.
Questions and feedback welcome!
William
