No, it's not possible. The add-on is binary, and needs to be recompiled for
every major version change of the Mozilla platform.

I'll release a version of the add-on compatible with Thunderbird 24 at some
point, but there are a few build system issues I need to resolve first.

Good news :-D

I thinked that ThunderBird 17 only receive a security updates, and no more
big releases at long time, and now i known that Thunderbird 24 is under
development :-)

What is, in little lines, the most important and bigger changes from 17 to
24 version, not all changelog ?

"under development" as you say).
