Every few days FF 3.6.3 tells me I have a problem plugin, some Java
thing. It offers to disable it. I say ok.

Apparently the Java thing keeps re-installing itself. The net UX is
"Firefox keeps nagging me and forcing me to restart".

Hmm, reinstalling shouldn't matter (unless you are seeing different
versions each time). Could you say what versions of the add-ons are
installed?

From reading that post, he's just offering critique on the UI, albeit
not in a place that many will see it. Mostly I think he's right, and
they're areas that we should improve.

Oh, I saw it. :)

Improving the UI aside (and I don't disagree that it could use revision) I'm more concerned about the repeated presentation of the UI in John's case. Screenshots or exact copies of the version numbers would help a lot, yes.

I'm posting one occurrence from a machine I'll call 'enki'. The dialog says:

Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.180.7
and it is in FF 3.6.5pre.

I'll disable it and see if it comes back.

(BTW if someone works on the UI, it's annoying that the text can't be
selected).

It came back, same Java Deployment Toolkit version, same machine... but
a different profile. So maybe I am not realizing that my so-called
repeats are actually from different profiles.

Aha. Yes, that would make sense if the plugin is installed globally. We should figure out how to solve that problem.

cheers,
