I tried upgrading this morning to 3,03. Since then, Firefox does not
run. The process in running in Task Manager, but the application is
not. Prior to the upgrade, all was well. I am running Vista Home
premium as my O/S with sufficient memory and disk space. I tried
installing into my same directory as an upgrade, doing a full
uninstall and reinstall to ther same directory, and (finally),
installing to a different partition (my normal partition is not the c:
\ drive for applications) - this last attempt was to the default c:
\... folder specified in the setup program. Rebooting does no good -
the Firefox app still does not start,

Back to IE 7.0 until this is solved. Needless to say, I will not be
upgrading my laptop at this time.

What version are you trying to install now?

Did you make a back-up of your profile folder before trying to upgrade?
If yes, back-up your current profile folder and replace it with the info
from before the upgrade. Then install Firefox to a (new) folder of your
choice.

It's also possible that something in the Windows registry got messed up.
If you have made a restore point before the upgrade, you could try
restoring the system but keep in mind that the consequences may not be
pleasant. I don't know much about the registry but I have had some bad
experiences.

Another option is to let CCleaner to check your registry for problems
and see if there might be something relevant to the problem.

And I'll say this again: if you decide to try this, make a BACK-UP! I
can not give any warranty that it will work.
