I have come across a good reason I would like to be able to exclude certain
bookmarks folders from showing in the Gold Star indicator.

As I run the Firefox nightlies I reload my tabs most days with a new
version. From time to time Firefox is unable to recover a previous session
with a message like "Failed - the data is unrecoverable". So I have got
used to keeing a folder called Working where I every few days bookmark all
tabs under a folder, eg called Working/2008-08-13.

Now I would prefer that a site bookmarked there does NOT show as starred as
it isn't really, it's a temporary storage and I just delete the whole folder
for particular days from time to time.

Ideally I could flag that folder "Working" as not part of permanent
bookmarks so a page in there doesn't show up with the Star.

Alternatively could I please have an alternate way to not lose all my tabs
once in a while?

I bet other power users have similar requests, even if not running daily
updates Firefox will lose the previous tabs session from time to time.

Okay, so how do I delete the starred bookmarks?

Organise bookmarks, Bookmarks menu, find folder, and delete it....
