Add-ons / Extensions Disabling

HI dudes ,

I am running on firefox -3.0.1 on Ubuntu . I want to disable add-ons
installtion on my system . I have seen a flag xpinstall.enabled in mozilla
code . Does it sufficient to set the flag as FALSE for get my work done .
There are extensions.rdf file in mozilla source code . I make it read only ,
but that cause message popup as "Uncompatible Addons with browser". Can
anyone suggest me how to disable the Extension installation internally in
the code itself ??? like if some section of code to be commented out .
