"Not Responding"

Switched to Firefox about 18 months ago, and love it! About 2 months
ago (after an automatic update occurred?), Firefox started hanging up
every other minute or so.

As I was attempting to categorize numerous images on a photo
competition site, even the 10-40 second "holds" were very
frustrating. After several days, the problem seemed to go away - and
Firefox was zooming along again.

Now, as of yesterday - the "hang time" is back again with a
vengeance! In fact, it has already happened twice since this message
was started.

My Add-Ons are "No Script" and "WOT". Mozilla, No Script, and WOT
are all on my permitted access list (Preferences have not changed,
ever.)

What is happening? Why recently and not in the first 18 months of
use? Is the problem preventable?

I really don't want to go back to IE, but this is driving me nutz!!!!
