Hi,

almost two years have passed since I took over the calendar lead from
mvl, and I think it's time for a change: I am stepping back from this
role. There are two main reasons why I think this is necessary:

* I am going to have less time for calendar work in the future, and I
fear I can't meet the requirements of that role in the future.
* I think it's simply refreshening to have a change in lead from time to
time, to gather new views on things and do them differently.

So who's my successor? <snare-rattling />
I am grateful that Philipp Kewisch volunteers to step in. He's both
smart and a great guy to work with, and has already done a lot for the
project. So he feels like the natural choice to me. Please support
Philipp in his new role!

Finally, I'd like to thank the whole team for supporting me during this
time. It's been a great time for me and I learned a lot.
I am sure we continue to have great releases! Having less time does not
mean I am leaving the project ;-) I will certainly do one or the other
feature/bug/review. Stay tuned!

bests,
Daniel

BTW: Philipp is at the top of the "2008 bug fix ranking" !!

Daniel, thanks for your hard work in leading this project, we all hope
it will rise to new heights with the default inclusion in Thunderbird
and its greater exposure due to that, as well as hopefully the
availability of Lightning for SeaMonkey 2 - and you have lead the
project well in these interesting times where all the base work for this
has been done.

Philipp, congrats to this position, I hope you will still be able to do
a lot of actual code work in this position, and I'm looking forward to
good cooperation and collaboration with you!

Robert Kaiser

P.S.: With the suite tabmail patch that's currently under review, I
managed to get Lightning trunk reasonably well in SeaMonkey trunk!

Philipp, congratulations! You have big shoes to fill, but I think you're
going to do great in the new role. Looking forward to working with you!

Hi Daniel

You've done a great job in leading the calendar project. Thanks for
all and I wish you to have a lot of fun in your new
responsibilities !

And welcome to Philipp as the new leader of Calendar Project !
Philipp, I think your new role is a real challenge with the
forthcoming release of Thunderbird 3 with native calendar functions
and a full time development resource missing. I wish you to succeed.

Best regards

I don't "know" either of you from Adam, but still want to thank both
Daniel and Philipp for contributing to this important project. I'm, glad
that there even exists a leadership role and that the transition is
happening so organized and civilized. :-)

Here's to Lightning hopefully soon being integrated into Thunderbird.

Thanks, Daniel, for all the good work you've done (and will do!), and
thanks Philipp for volunteering. Best wishes to you both.
