Hi Mozilla standards folks. I work on Google Docs, and am trying to advance a minor standards proposal to make error events in appcache more useful. The basic issue is that the error events dispatched by appcache don't contain enough information to be actionable. Specifically, you can't distinguish an update attempt which failed because the user was offline (routine) from one which failed because the resource served a 404 or something. The latter you probably want to advertise, or report to a central crash reporting system. The solution might involve including the URL of the failed resource and the error code in the appcache update failed event.
This idea was also posted to whatwg, here:

Is there any interest in this idea at Mozilla, would anyone from your organization be willing to speak in support of it?
Thanks,
-Dave
