Hi Butch,

Currently, the only Firefox OS device available to purchase in the US is
the "Flame" developer phone:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/Flame

This phone provides hardware support for all the features that Firefox
OS supports, so that app developers can test their apps with any
hardware interface the apps might use. The Flame phone is available via
everbuying.com (see link the page above).

This device is sold without a SIM card, so you would need get a SIM card
from a carrier that offers them. I got one from T-Mobile. I'm not an
AT&T customer, so I don't know if they offer SIM cards independently of
phones (though I suspect not).

Mozilla has not yet announced any plans to make Firefox OS devices
available through US carriers.

I'm in Canada on Rogers, who partners with AT&T, I just transferred my
existing SIM into the flame and it worked fine.

There are definitely places where the phone and available apps need to go
before it feels like a direct replacement for android (which is partly why
the phones aren't being released yet in countries where people are used to
smart phones). The flame is a great price for an unlocked phone though and
many people would be happy with it. One thing to keep in mind is whether or
not you're capable of updating the phone yourself (I am not, though a lot
of that is due to using Windows and there aren't good guides) or if you are
near enough to someone who can help you. After that I'd recommend talking
to another flame owner to find out if your "must haves" for a phone are
ready yet on Firefox OS.

I have a pay as you go SIM from ATT and it works fine but I did have to get my own phone. Carriers in North America do not have them.
