Hello Mozilians,
I am Anees Iqbal (imagine a Pikachu[1]), also known as steelbrain, I am a
rockstar on GitHub[2]. I am the author of the famous `linter` package, I
wrote it about 2 and a half months ago and it has received more than 293
thousand downloads since then[3]. It's also been the trending package ever
since and new providers are added for it each week. NodeJS and Javascript
are my thing, I invent new libraries each week that I feel are missing from
this world. I also love PHP and HackLang (facebook's version of PHP + a
bunch of cool stuff) and I am getting started with python these days. I use
a personal modified version of Ubuntu 15.10 Wily WereWolf along with linux
kernel 4.2 and Ubuntu GNOME 3.16 as my OS.
I may not look like much but trust me, I am a good, smart guy, I love
team work, people say I am quite dependable. I am always willing to help
and guide people as they need. If someone from github is here, he would
know that I reply in less than a minute to most of support requests. I am
active in the AtomLinter organization most of the time and I kind-of
maintain almost all of the unmaintained repositories. I'll be turning 17
years old this October so people often have trust problem with me saying I
am too young for it, but I hope my github profile is enough to assure them
that I am not a kid :)
I had been a Mozilla lover and supporter since childhood (as IE wasn't as
good back in those days and Firefox was my everyday tool), but I had to
abandon Firefox about two years ago because I believed that v8 (chrome's
javascript engine) was way more smooth than SpiderMonkey (Firefox's
javascript engine) but I can see that things have changed since then. Not
only has firefox added the electrolysis (threaded tabs) but it's also
working on a rewrite of it's rendering engine which plans to surpass blink
and webkit in performance. Mozilla has named it servo and it's available on
GitHub[4]. I like the fact that it's written in Mozilla's own programming
language rust.
About a week ago, I switched back to Firefox as my primary OS and I am
recommending every single of my friends to do that as well. So that makes
~50 people switching back to Firefox from Chrome, I am still spreading the
word through our private Slack Rooms and IRC channels and people are quite
satisfied with it and have high hopes for future versions. so I wanted to
know if there's any opportunity here in Pakistan where I can help Mozilla
with anything regarding programming or talk or support requests or
something else.
