Hi,

I am administrator of Mozilla.cz community website. Currently more and
more websites in Czech Republic are implementing a warning bar about
their cookies usage. What's the current Mozilla attitude to this EU law
and Mozilla community websites? We are using WordPress, Tabzilla, Google
Analytics and Twitter widget.

Cheers,

Hey Michal,

I'm not sure what the official line is on this one, however implementing a
simple notice banner like many other EU sites do is probably a wise idea.
There are some great drop ins for wordpress that do this in a
non-obtrusive, but still compliant manner that you might want to take a
look at.

I personally think doing so is a great idea too, especially if you turn it
into a moment of learning for visitors as well. Giving them the option to
learn more about online privacy and the reasons the law was introduced in
the EU etc... as well as learning more about why Firefox is a great choice
of browser for the privacy conscious as well.

Hope my 2cents is helpful,

-- Fuzzy

Thank you Fuzzy,

I will test some existing plugins, if I find any suitable and not
intrusive one. But maybe creating a brand new one including Mozilla.org
or SUMO link is not a bad idea. I will share my findings or work here,
hopefully before Christmas.

Cheers,

If you want to post on Discourse as well, this sort of thing would fit in
the Community WebDev category (it's currently not very busy but I know some
people watch it) -
