Hi,

I have noticed that few of the developers are subscribed to the mailing
list and mostly many of don't know each other.

I am just starting this thread as an effort to let each other know that
there are fellow developers who contribute to the Firefox, Thunderbird,
etc. source code. So if you contribute patches for the development of any
the Mozilla products then please let us know by replying to this mail. :)

This could be good opportunity for all of us to know each other, and plan
future activities in this direction.

I am aware that many people who contribute patches hang out on IRC, but are
not subscribed to the Mozilla India mailing list. We could just CC this
mail to them just in case we are aware of their email address.

Thanks,
Sankha Narayan Guria

Hi Sankha,

Thanks a lot for this.
I'm in the middle of figuring out how to make fellow mozilla-devs to
communicate without needing to come out of our beloved cave, break our
habitual shyness towards proactive communication & dividing the world with
zero <http://xkcd.com/222/>. :P

For the lack of a better name, I'm calling it the "Project 300" - please
deal with it, while I explain. :P

Let's scavenge all the homes tech-institutes of Sparta India, and come up
with a team of mighty developers who regularly contribute code to Mozilla
(m-c only? or any moz repo?). We can prepare a small
portal/developer-directory on (devs?).mozillaindia.org to list them all
(and use BZ API to fetch their past/present works). The ones with Ln (n ∈
{1, 2, 3}), can be the local mentors of the ones starting up with
dev-contrib (at least the young Padawans will know who to ask).

Crude idea, needs a lot of discussion and improvement. But sharing it
prematurely anyway, I expect to have better minds in the community with
enhancement suggestions for this.

Cheers!

Since you have already got the tech-thing rolling and your idea about
(devs?).mozillaindia.org is really awesome. :)

I found this on the web, www.graememcc.co.uk/myfavouritecomponent/ that
does a pretty nice job of using the BZ API to figure certain things about a
dev. We could use this as a starting point and hack on it to make into a
more usable portal to list out all the devs profile and stuff!

Looking forward to ideas from the rest. :)

Is anyone already working on this?

Our awesome peer Mozillian, Avinash Kundalya was working on prototyping
something very close.
I have some test prototypes on my local system, but too unpolished/rough to
get 'em up on github.
