Haha... no worries, your workload isn't reduced a bit :P

You still need to post a blog on how you're (and who else is) going to
review/publish the posts, the criteria for relevance etc.

FWIW, I'd only agree with Sankha on the note that the blog better not
become a continuous flux of seemingly under-important things, that we'd
eventually have to turn our ears off of it. "Does the entire community need
to know?" may be one of the criteria for posts.

I was waiting for Sayak to come up with some ideas about aggregation -
would suggest others, who can, to look for alternatives as well. Although,
I have no issues setting up a http://planet.mozillaindia.org/

Also, if we could only "feature" posts for the homepage - and keep the
other post (less important/relevant to all) under tags - that could be
another solution.

Also, OFFTOPIC: but discussions like this can very well go to
https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/community-india-dev (CC'd), even for no
other reasons, but it's auto archived on (Google) NewsGroups for references.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for chiming in a bit late, was caught up with quite a few things.

Regarding the blog I'm still of the opinion that
blog.mozillaindia.orgshould only be used for official blog posts. For
showcasing blog posts by
community members I'd strongly recommend using an aggregation system such
as a planet.

The problem with a moderated blog is that someone needs to be the villain
at times to maintain harmony in the larger ecosystem and to prevent
unwanted spam on the official channel, which can be easily misinterpreted
as communications from Mozilla India.

I'm open to giving user credentials to people who want to take on
communication and documentation role, however personally I'm still of the
opinion that blog.mozillaindia.org is not the place to post every event
report or personal blogs on Mozilla.

Regards,
Sayak

Hey,

Sorry for being in late on this thread. Exams in progress.

Just as Sayak says, I think the best option for showcasing community
members blog posts would be to hold some method of an aggregator system
like planet. We could just fetch RSS feeds from respective blogs of
community members and showcase them on planet. Yeah, I do understand the
problem with spam feeds that we would face, but we could so something for
that, like `moderating it ourselves/having a group of volunteers doing the
same`. That'd make it easier than granting people contributor access to
post a blog on planet.

Let the blog.mozillaindia.org stay only for official blog posts and be a
place where people could go for official news.

*Throw in*: A Facebook integration which will auto-post the blogposts to
Mozilla India , Facebook timeline & Same with twitter. (Not a priority as
of now)

Regards,
Sudheesh Singanamalla
