Hi everyone,

sorry for writing so late in the evening. :) I am part of the Czech l10n
community and going to visit Budapest between 4th and 9th August. I
haven't made any plan yet - can you please give me some recommendations
about the sights, places and POI in Budapest, or contact for someone who
can give me any advise? It's going to be very short holiday, but maybe I
will find some time to meet you personally, if you'd like to too.

Cheers,

Hi Michal!

I'm not the perfect tour guide but let me give this a try. You should check
out Karolina <https://twitter.com/slsoftworks>'s Foursquare recommendations
first <https://foursquare.com/fox/list/todo-budapest> - this is a great
list, however mostly contains cafés and restaurants, only a few scenic and
"must-see" places like Városliget or the Parliament. Other than that have a
look at WeLoveBudapest <http://welovebudapest.com/> - they have a nice
collection of places to go when visiting the city, a feast for both the
eyes and tummy..! :)

If you are up for it, I would be glad to catch a beer or something,
somewhere closer to the end of the week (if you are on the lookout for
great craft beer places, check out (among others) "Jónás
<https://foursquare.com/v/j%C3%B3n%C3%A1s-k%C3%A9zm%C5%B1ves-s%C3%B6rh%C3%A1z--craft-beer-house/52fdeee8498e767158e27ce9>",
"Élesztő
<https://foursquare.com/v/%C3%A9leszt%C5%91/51783bf0e4b002738e1a208b>" or "
Kandalló
<https://foursquare.com/v/kandall%C3%B3-k%C3%A9zm%C5%B1ves-pub/50cf78e2e4b0a73ce6a7f069>
").

If you need any more help be sure to drop me a tweet
<https://twitter.com/slsoftworks>, or a mail here *(tweets reach me more
easily)*.

Enjoy your stay in Hungary!

Thank you István. I prefer tips from local people than any tourist guide
book, possibly outdated, so thank you much once again for them. Any café
would be very appreciated in case of unexpected short rain. :) I will
carefully save all the interesting places.

I am traveling with my girlfriend, but yes, I would like to go for a
beer or two if you pick a nice place. I will let you know as soon I make
a rough schedule so we can arrange the meeting (maybe on Sat/Sun evening).

Cheers,

Haha! By "beer", I of course meant "could hang out" -- there is no reason
why your girlfriend wouldn't tag along (if she wanted, that is) -- I'm not
much of a beer drinker myself fwiw... ;D

Also, fwiw, I'm flying out on Sunday, so that's out but anything beforehand
(friday, saturday) could made work!
Just ping me again closer to those dates and we'll work out something ;)

Enjoy your stay, both of you!

Cheers,
Flaki
