Can someone help me with this?

Months ago I set Google up as my home page for Firefox. Just this week I'm getting this message:

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

If you understand what's going on, you can tell Firefox to start trusting this site's identification. Even if you trust the site, this error could mean that someone is tampering with your connection.

Don't add an exception unless you know there's a good reason why this site doesn't use trusted identification.

The web address I've always used is: https://www.google.com/
I'm told "it's certificate is not trusted because it hasn't been verified as issued by a trusted authority using a secure signature."

Can someone tell me what the issue is? I have clicked in the "Add Exception" button, confirmed the Exception and checked the "Permanently store this exception" box but it keeps coming up with the same issue.

This could be for many reasons. My first thought is that your computer's
clock may be wrong, which produces error messages like this in many
circumstances. However, since your behaviour is persistent, and you have
made an exception for google.com, I wonder if you are running a modified or
compromised Firefox. Is this a Firefox running on your home computer?
Work computer?

I think you'll have more luck interacting with Mozilla's support
organization. Start here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/connection-untrusted-error-message and
please ask a question on that site. It's a great community dedicated to
helping Firefox users like yourself!

Good luck,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the response. I have no idea what has happened other than suddenly Firefox won't work but Chrome will. I'll shoot of a message to the IT department to have them look into this.
