So the front page of Affiliates currently says there are 70k Affiliates.
Thing is, that number really just counts users who have registered for
Affiliates. We have no idea how many of those accounts are legitimate
people who should be counted as supporters.
We have a goal of getting a certain number of supporters by the end of
the year, but that goal was set with the invalid number and it's growth
rate in mind. If we want to have a real impact, we should be working
against a better metric.
I suggest we do three things:
1. Define what an "active" affiliate is.
2. Alter the site to be able to track which users are considered active.
3. Determine the number of active affiliates and the rate of
growth/decline and bring that number to Mary Ellen / whomever is most
appropriate and start discussing if the supporter goal should change.
As a starting point for #1, here's a random set of criteria off the top
of my head for an active affiliate:
- Has created at least one banner.
- Has logged into the site within the past 3 months
- Has had at least 10 clicks across all of their banners in the past month.
Thoughts? Are the three things good or bad plans? Any opinions on what
an active affiliate should be defined as?
Thanks!
