On Debian 8 I want to install a signed firefox extension globally via the mechanism described in https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Installing_extensions. So I extracted the xpi file to /usr/lib/mozilla/extensions/<appid>/<addon-id>/. The add-on gets installed correctly, however, it is disabled because the signature cannot be verified. Is it still possible to install signed extensions globally via the /usr/lib/mozilla/extensions/<appid>/<addon-id>/ in Firefox >= 45?

Are you installing it unpacked, and have you verified that nothing
changes in the install directory after installation?

Yeah, it's unpacked and I do not make any changes to the addon directory.
