Hey -
Here's the status report from this week via my scribbled on the road
notes.
2 Meetings this week:
- Impromptu Monday Meeting to sync up after all-hands
- Weekly Wednesday (10am) status meeting
Talked over the
F1
Road Map team agreed to items (2) and timeline (May 24th).
The Road Map consists of two required feature blocks and then a
number of feature blocks for the future.
Required Blocks:
The required block of features (indicated on the road map) are the
minimum needed for us to ship F1 without having to pref it off in
Aurora and back it out before the Firefox 6 freeze. The team agree
that having at least the minimal F1 interface working with Twitter
and Facebook was enough to launch and we will try (time permitting)
to include other accounts and features.
The F1 server is progressing along well and needs to find a home in
MoCo Ops.
- Gozer will work with Tarek and others to get the latest
version of the F1 server running by the MoCo ops team
- Someone from MoCo ops should be dialing into our calls, Gozer
will figure out who that is
The front end is working out integration into Firefox but needs
decisions on a few key items
- F1 Settings in the Firefox preferences bug
645802 would mean duplication of lots of code if they were
rewritten in XUL, can we write an iframe into the prefs panel?
- It's unclear if we're going to be able to satisfy Firefox UX's
need to have the panel look like a system panel. We may need a
compromise from them in terms of style if we can't determine a
method to make it work. Or we may need to rework how our panel
is displaying it's border and content.
- Our Twitter Account needs to have a final UX ready for when
the developers are ready to start working on this
We have a call with AnswerLabs this week, setup by Jinghua, to get a
more comprehensive usability study started on F1.
Other pieces I'm missing and/or corrections?
Cheers,
~ Bryan
