Hi,
I'm just learning of this MoPy group and am very excited to get more
involved in this section of the Mozilla community. Currently my work
in python is mostly release engineering tools (buildbot, for example)
but at this year's PyCon I started a project with some other folks to
bring accessible programming lessons specifically to women* using
Python and Django. Mostly this is a replica of the Rails for Women
workshops that have been very successful in getting more women
programming in RoR. I'd love to see that level of success (at the
very least) in the Python community and since Python makes so much
more sense (to me) than Ruby, I think we can do even better :)
So the first workshop in the Bay Area is happening at the Mozilla
office in Mountain View on April 29/30 and I really really need people
to come be teachers and lab assistants to guide our very eager
attendees through the process of making their first Django site.

* the 'official' tag line is "introduction to Python programming for
women and their friends" meaning anyone is welcome that feels like
they would like a safe, non-alpha-geek environment to learn in. the
courses are geared at newbies but also for folks who know some
programming, just not Python
